A simple audio edit using Hokusai. Some steps vary between iPad and iPhone (iPod touch uses the same steps as iPhone).
Tap the New Project button to create a blank project.

In the Add New Track tray, tap the Record button.
A panel will pop up showing the current input level and a record/stop toggle. Record a few seconds of audio.
Hold & then drag your finger along the audio to select a region.
Tap "More..." to apply effects.
If you like, you can add extra recordings. Dropbox, iTunes file sharing, the microphone, the built-in synthesisers and the clipboard are all sources of audio for Hokusai. You can add many tracks side-by-side, or mix them down.
Return to My Documents and tap the Action button.

Tap projects to select them (you can export or delete multiple projects at once)
Export your project:
You can transfer your finished mix to your computer using iTunes, or send it direct to Dropbox for added convenience.
And you're done! A complete manual is also available — just tap Help in the My Documents screen. While a document is open, help is available from the Project Actions menu — on iPad, tap the Action button in the top-right of the screen; on iPhone, tap your project's name. Inside of Hokusai, help is customised for the device (iPad/iPhone/iPod touch) you are using.
